Campden House, Kensington by Thomas Faulkner. Burnt down 1862 1820 old print'Campden House' The house was built in about 1612 for Sir Baptist Hicks, a London silk mercer who lent money to the crown and had been knighted in 1603 by James I, and who would be ennobled in the 1620s as Viscount Campden. After passing through various hands, including those of the future Queen Anne and the Dowager Countess of Burlington, it served as a boarding school for girls. The house burnt down in 1862. It was located just west of Kensington
